About the project

For the press

KOMUNIKA is an interdisciplinary project. It has been created thanks to cooperation of specialists from the fields which are distant from one another, and seemingly do not have much in common, and this feature is the strength and unique value of this project. KOMUNIKA brings to the market of educational services a brand-new offer which effectively addresses the need that is as old as our civilisation – the need to learn foreign languages. The persons behind KOMUNIKA are specialists with extensive experience in the fields of learning Polish as a foreign language, IT and project management. Modern management methods and advanced technology have been merged in the project with a view to achieving its principal goal, that is teaching the Polish language in an effective and the fastest possible way.

The project’s authors talk about themselves and KOMUNIKA:

Przemek Dul

I studied Polish philology and philosophy. For nearly ten years, I have been involved in teaching Polish as a foreign language. I have worked as a foreign language teacher at universities in Poland (Jagiellonian University in Kraków) and Germany (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster), as well as for a number of private language schools and other educational institutions in these countries. After a few years, I set up my own company, and it was then that I started to experiment with Internet tools. Thanks to those experiments, I have understood two things: First of all, Polish can be taught on-line and the effectiveness of such a method is as high as in the case of traditional courses. Thanks to the use of Internet tools this effectiveness may be even increased. Secondly, I have understood that I need support of IT specialists. These conclusions were the source of KOMUNIKA project.

I teach via the Internet not because I could not teach traditional courses, but because I am convinced about the value of this form of teaching Polish as a foreign language. However, using IT technology cannot substitute contact with the teacher. I do not perceive the Internet as something which is supposed to substitute the teacher, but rather as a new medium of contact with the teacher. This medium opens up numerous opportunities which remain unavailable for traditional teaching.
Teaching via the Internet requires a specific method, and it is this method that is in the centre of my interest. I believe that it is the very essence of KOMUNIKA project. Thanks to the fact that we are constantly developing it, we can offer our clients a tool for effective learning of the Polish language. All the project participants are aware of the fact that we teach differently We are proud of it, since this uniqueness constitutes the basis of our clients’ success and satisfaction.
Moreover, I would like KOMUNIKA to become a window on Poland for many of you, which is the reason why we pay so much attention to the cultural context of the Polish language. Poland, as probably any other country, keeps looking for a language in which it could express itself and present itself to others. KOMUNIKA is also an attempt at contributing to this process.

But, first and foremost, KOMUNIKA is a meeting place to which I would like to warmly invite you.

Damian Malinowski

I have been working in the IT industry for over ten years. As a certified project manager, I have been in charge of projects for really demanding sectors, such as banking and telecommunications. I have worked for leading Polish IT companies. I have also set up my own consulting firm in order to decide about my development more flexibly.
Multi-million projects carried out in various business environments are great challenges, which also require effective communication. My experience tells me that communication causes numerous problems, even if there is no language barrier. Thanks to participation in various international projects, I also know that communication is even more difficult if the language as well as cultural and conceptual differences become an impediment.
Over the years, I have been watching the impact of modern IT technologies and the Internet on the ever increasing number of areas of life. I still observe the way IT systems change people’s approach to work and the work itself. Obviously, the changes are also visible in the field of knowledge acquisition, as the barrier of geographical distance has ceased to exist. What confirms my belief is the offensive of world-wide platforms which deal with teaching leading global languages, and for this purpose use modern methods, including voice communicators or Internet telephony. The thing that is of crucial importance to me is the fact that the number of users of platforms which take advantage of modern technologies for knowledge acquisition is on the increase. I can also notice changes in Poland, both in the economy, business environment, and in science. After Poland’s accession to the European Union, I can observe an ever increasing openness of Poles and their interest in contacting foreigners in various spheres of life. It is a great opportunity for the Western World to establish business, scientific and cultural contacts with Poland.

I am convinced that it is possible to overcome one’s limitations in order to open up to the world. I am also convinced that modern technologies and the Internet are tools which significantly improve the possibilities for work and learning. Finally, I am convinced that Poland is an intriguing place both from the cultural and business point of view. For these reasons, I am one of the authors of KOMUNIKA project, and I believe that you will convince yourselves to the effectiveness of learning Polish with our original and innovative method. I believe we will achieve success together!
